Text: Molecular Genetics of Bacteria, 3rd Edition, Snyder and Champness, 2007
Course Objectives: To understand the genetic processes of bacteria and viruses and to examine the molecular mechanisms that control these processes.

Grading: Hourly exams 200 (Best two exam scores out of three)
Final exam 200 (Cumulative)
Pop quizzes: 20 points (five quizzes worth 5 points each; lowest score dropped)
Total 420 points

There will be NO make-up exams or quizzes. If you miss an exam or a quiz, it will be considered your drop exam or quiz. Grading will be based solely on exam scores on a typical 10-percentage point grading scale.
90-100% (420-378 pts) = A; 80-89% (377-336 pts)= B; 70-79% (335-294 pts) = C; 60-69% (293-252 pts) = D; <59% (
